The station is affiliated with TV Brasil and is a member of the Rede Nacional de Comunicação Pública (National Public Communication Network). On air, TV Encontro das Águas began its history as an educational channel, broadcasting teleclasses for elementary school students starting in 1972. After the educational program ended in 1977, the station continued producing generalist cultural programming. In 1993, it became TV Cultura Amazonas, and on September 20, 2019, it adopted its current name, TV Encontro das Águas, to establish a stronger local identity. Today, the station produces journalistic and cultural programs focused on the Amazon region. Examples of its programming include the journalistic program Jornal Encontro das Águas and the talk show Panorama 360.
