RBATV (Rede Brasil Amazônia de Televisão) is a Brazilian regional television network operating in the news and entertainment format. The primary language of broadcasting is Portuguese. The channel was founded on December 15, 1988, by businessman Jair Bernardino as an affiliate of Rede Manchete . The station was originally based in Belém, Pará, and was the most modern Brazilian TV station in the North-Northeast region at its launch, with assets valued at around US$93 million. It became the first station in Brazil to use a computerized newsroom system and also the first to abolish the use of videotape for reporting, using high-speed fiber optic systems . The name Rede Brasil Amazônia originated from an idea of creating a television network with a strong regional influence. After Bernardino's death in an air disaster in August 1989, the station was sold in 1990 to local politician Jader Barbalho, then elected governor of the state of Pará . Today, RBATV is owned by Grupo RBA de Comunicação and serves as an affiliate of Rede Bandeirantes for most of the state of Pará, with its flagship station broadcasting on channel 13 in Belém . The channel is headquartered at Avenida Almirante Barroso, 3185, in the Marco district of Belém, Pará, Brazil.
On air, RBATV features a strong lineup of local news, sports, and community-oriented programming, producing over six hours of daily local content, which represents approximately 30 percent of its daily schedule . The flagship news program is Jornal RBA, presented by Cácia Medeiros, airing Monday through Friday at 6:40 PM, covering local politics, crime, education, healthcare, and social issues from across the Pará region . RBA Urgente is an afternoon news program hosted by journalist Nathália Kawage, airing at 5:30 PM, focusing on breaking news and urgent reports from the Belém metropolitan area and the state . Bora Cidade is a midday magazine program hosted by Agenor Santos and Natalia Lago, airing Monday through Friday from 12:20 PM to 1:57 PM, featuring news reports, interviews, and community stories from across the state .
Sports programming is a significant part of RBATV's schedule. Jogo Aberto Pará is a sports talk program hosted by Danilo Pires and Liane Coelho, airing Monday through Friday at 11:50 AM, covering local football teams, regional sports news, and analysis . Camisa 13 is a long-running morning sports program hosted by Paula Marrocos, airing Monday through Friday at 6:30 AM, opening the channel's daily programming and covering sports news and community events . Barra Pesada is a community-focused program hosted by Marcos Aleixo, airing Monday through Friday at 7:00 AM, featuring sensationalist coverage of local events, police operations, and human-interest stories .
RBATV also broadcasts national programming from Rede Bandeirantes, including Jogo Aberto, Brasil Urgente, Jornal da Band, and Masterchef Celebridades . The channel's weekend schedule includes Sabadão de Todos, SFT - MMA ao vivo (live mixed martial arts), Stock Car live racing, and Domingo no Cinema . Religious programming includes broadcasts from the Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus at 4:00 AM daily and Show da Fé in the evening .
RBATV is available throughout the state of Pará via digital terrestrial television on channel 13 in Belém, as well as through 40 retransmitter stations and affiliates across the interior of the state, reaching approximately 80 percent of the state's population . The channel is also available on satellite and online streaming platforms. Viewers can watch online the live broadcast of RBATV through the official DOL news portal and via the Grupo RBA mobile application, available for Android devices, which offers live streaming of RBATV along with access to DOL news portal, Diário do Pará newspaper, and radio stations including 99FM, Diário FM, and Rádio Clube do Pará .
RBATV strives to be the primary source of local news, sports, and information for the people of Pará, with the motto "A cara do Pará, o orgulho da Amazônia" (The face of Pará, the pride of the Amazon) . The mission of the channel is to provide a strong regional identity and maintain a close relationship with viewers, offering programming that reflects the interests, culture, and traditions of the Amazon region. According to Camilo Centeno, president of Grupo RBA, the channel has created a strong identity with Paraense viewers and consistently achieves the highest audience ratings among Rede Bandeirantes affiliates in Brazil on a proportional basis . Thanks to modern digital platforms, RBATV provides the opportunity to watch online the live broadcast on any device - from smartphones to Smart TVs - ensuring that residents of Pará and former residents living elsewhere in Brazil or abroad can stay connected to their home state wherever they are.
