TV Vila Real is a Brazilian free-to-air television station based in Cuiabá, the capital of the state of Mato Grosso. The primary language of broadcasting is Portuguese. The station operates on digital channel 10.1 (virtual) via UHF 38 and is an affiliate of the Record TV network . It is owned by the Grupo Gazeta de Comunicação, which was founded in 1990 by businessman João Dorileo Leal . The station was founded on November 26, 1993, originally under the name TV Gazeta, and initially broadcast programming from the Central Nacional de Televisão (CNT) . It became an affiliate of the Rede Record in 1997 . Throughout its history, the station has undergone several rebrandings, including TV Record Cuiabá and RecordTV Cuiabá, before adopting its current name, TV Vila Real, on November 26, 2017. The name "Vila Real" is a reference to the original name of the city of Cuiabá: Vila Real do Senhor Bom Jesus de Cuiabá .
