TV Difusora Leste is a Brazilian television station based in Caxias, in the state of Maranhão, serving as an affiliate of the SBT (Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão) network . The primary language of broadcasting is Portuguese. The station operates on VHF analog channel 11 and UHF digital channel 38 (virtual channel 11.1) . It is part of the Sistema Difusora de Comunicação and integrates the Rede Difusora network, generating programming for the city of Caxias and nearby areas .
The station was originally inaugurated in 2004 as TV Difusora Caxias, replacing a repeater station of TV Difusora that had been on air since 1999. The original station was a partnership between Edinho Lobão, owner of the Sistema Difusora de Comunicação, and Humberto Coutinho, a local politician . In 2014, following a political split between the partners, the station lost the right to use the VHF channel 11 frequency and its SBT affiliation, going off the air. After 45 days, it resumed broadcasts on VHF channel 3 under the name TV Sinal Verde, becoming an affiliate of the Record network .
In 2015, the station returned to its original VHF channel 11, once again became an affiliate of SBT, and began retransmitting programming generated by TV Difusora in São Luís. The station faced financial crises starting in 2017, leading to staff reductions. In April 2018, the station was purchased by federal deputy Weverton Rocha. On June 28, 2021, the Sistema Sinal Verde was formally incorporated into the Sistema Difusora, and the station was renamed TV Difusora Leste. The station's sister radio station also became Difusora FM .
On air, TV Difusora Leste rebroadcasts the national programming of the SBT network, which includes entertainment shows, Mexican telenovelas, and children's programming. In addition to the national feed, the station produces local journalism content for the Caxias region. The station began its digital transmissions on September 26, 2018, via UHF channel 38. The station's slogan is "Tem vc aqui" (You are here).
In 2025, the station announced a new local journalistic program as part of its local programming lineup. The program "Deu [Nome do Programa]" (the exact title is redacted in the source) premiered on February 17, 2025, and is hosted by journalist, radio broadcaster, and lawyer Ricardo Marques, with the participation of Flávio Adiel (known as "Palhaço Azedinho") manipulating a puppet character named Miguelito. The program airs from Monday to Friday at 11:00 AM, covering police news, live reporter segments, commentary, and interviews, using a popular and humorous language style . The program aims to bring the best of police journalism that the station has become known for over its history .
TV Difusora Leste is available in Caxias and surrounding areas via digital terrestrial television on UHF channel 38 (virtual channel 11.1). The station is also part of the Rede Difusora network, which includes sister stations TV Difusora São Luís and TV Difusora Sul in Imperatriz .
