Newsy online television

Scripps News is an American free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) news channel owned by The E. W. Scripps Company, a diversified media company founded in 1878 and headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio. The channel was originally launched in 2018 as Newsy, a digital news network focused on short-form video news packs synthesizing coverage from multiple global sources. Scripps acquired Newsy in January 2014 for $35 million and rebranded it to Scripps News on January 1, 2023. The network ceased its over-the-air broadcast transmission on November 15, 2024, and as of November 18, 2024, Scripps News programming is available exclusively on streaming platforms, smart TVs, and digital devices, with a renewed focus on streaming where viewership has grown more than 44% year over year. As a dedicated source for online television, Scripps News is led by Vice President Matt Simon, a veteran journalist who joined Scripps News in 2018 and has overseen several award-winning productions and primetime programming.

The programming schedule allows viewers to watch live channel coverage of weekday live programming from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM ET, with additional news programming overnight and on weekends. The network features award-winning reporting from journalists in more than 50 U.S. markets, with more than 30 reporters and producers based in Washington, D.C., plus reporters in communities across the country. Key programs on the Scripps News lineup include Morning Rush anchored by Alex Livingston, Rob Nelson, Carolyn Bruck, and Jay Strubberg with meteorologist Scott Withers (7:00 AM - 12:00 PM ET); Scripps News Live anchored by Lauren Magarino (12:00 PM - 2:00 PM ET); Scripps News Live anchored by Chance Seales (2:00 PM - 3:00 PM ET); Scripps News Live anchored by Chris Stewart (3:00 PM - 4:00 PM ET); Main & Wall anchored by Chris Stewart and Chris Nguyen focusing on the intersection of Wall Street and Main Street (4:00 PM - 5:00 PM ET); Scripps News Live anchored by Chris Nguyen (5:00 PM - 6:00 PM ET); The Race anchored by Chance Seales providing fact-based political coverage in partnership with POLITICO (6:00 PM - 7:00 PM ET); The Debrief anchored by Maritsa Georgiou (7:00 PM - 8:00 PM ET); and Scripps News Tonight anchored by Christian Bryant and Del Walters (8:00 PM - 10:00 PM ET).

Additional programming on Scripps News includes On The Scene, a daily three-hour program that takes viewers directly to multiple news events every day to hear the unfiltered truth as it happens; Scripps News Reports, a documentary-style program featuring in-depth investigative journalism; Good to Know, a program covering lifestyle, consumer, and health topics; and Scripps NewsLine, a primetime interview series with Lauren Magarino. The network also broadcasts special event coverage, including the Scripps National Spelling Bee on ION and Bounce (Scripps-owned networks), with Mina Kimes named as television host for the 101-year-old competition, joined by longtime analyst Paul Loeffler, with Michael Davies (executive producer of Jeopardy!) serving as executive producer of the broadcast. The network also partners with POLITICO for political coverage, including the weekly program The Race – Weekend featuring correspondents from Scripps and POLITICO, airing at 9:00 AM ET Saturdays on Scripps News. The Scripps News website relaunched in April 2024 with a dedicated Watch Now button and a new content management system used by more than 60 local television stations operated by Scripps. The Scripps News mobile app for smartphones features push alert notifications for breaking news, weather, and sports stories, a simplified homepage, category screens, and story pages, while apps for smart TV platforms put the 24-hour live stream front and center with access to on-demand news clips.

For audiences seeking a reliable live stream, Scripps News is not available via traditional over-the-air broadcast television following the cessation of its OTA transmission on November 15, 2024. Instead, the channel is accessible as tv online exclusively via streaming platforms and digital devices. The channel is available for free on all major FAST platforms including Pluto TV, The Roku Channel, Samsung TV Plus, Amazon Fire TV, Xumo, Vizio, and LG Channels. Scripps News is also available on paid streaming services such as Peacock, where it launched on August 21, 2025, as part of Peacock's 24/7 channel offering alongside ION, ION Mystery, Bounce, Court TV, and Court TV Legendary Trials. Viewers can watch the channel for free via the official Scripps News website at scrippsnews.com, which features a dedicated Watch Now button across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. The Scripps News mobile app is available for iOS and Android devices, and apps for smart TV platforms such as Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV provide access to the 24-hour live stream and on-demand news clips. The network is also available on YouTube and other streaming aggregators, and viewers can find streaming instructions at scrippsnews.com/streaming. The Scripps News mission emphasizes on-the-ground reporting that puts facts and people first, with the network motto Give light and the people will find their own way, a long-time Scripps company motto dating back to the company's founding in 1878. The network continues to expand its journalism with news reports from local and national journalists, including a robust team of correspondents covering the White House, Congress, and political campaigns, with White House correspondents Haley Bull and Serena Marshall, congressional reporters Nathaniel Reed and Stephanie Liebergen, and national political correspondents Ava-joye Burnett and Alex Miller. The network's political coverage is led by Political Director Andrew Rafferty and Deputy Political Director Joe St. George. Scripps News is part of The E. W. Scripps Company, which is one of the nation's largest local TV broadcasters, operating a portfolio of more than 60 stations in over 40 markets, and also reaches households across the U.S. with national news outlets Court TV and popular entertainment brands ION, Bounce, Defy TV, Grit, ION Mystery, and Laff. Scripps News is the successor to Newsy, which was founded in Columbia, Missouri, in 2008, and the network's transformation from a syndication business to a digital news network to a full-scale streaming news operation reflects the evolution of the news industry toward direct-to-consumer streaming platforms. The network's streaming-first strategy emphasizes flexibility for viewers who have cut the cord or prefer streaming over traditional broadcast and cable television, and Scripps News continues to be a primary source of independent, original reporting for audiences across the United States and worldwide.
