Multivision online television

Multivisión is a Cuban free-to-air television channel operating in the general entertainment format. The primary language of broadcasting is Spanish. The channel was founded on July 7, 2008, making it the most recently created channel in the Cuban television system . It is owned by the Institute of Information and Social Communication and operated by Cuban Television . The channel was conceived as the first digital channel in Cuba, with a founding purpose of offering viewers a varied, cultural, and different programming slate . Its slogan is "...Miradas al universo" (Views to the universe) . The channel is headquartered in the ICS Building in El Vedado, Havana, and broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week .

On air, Multivisión's programming is almost entirely of foreign origin, acquired through agreements with international companies such as Discovery Channel, Disney Channel, DW-TV, Telesur, and RT . The channel is noted for its variety, offering blocks dedicated to children's cartoons, foreign telenovelas, series, and films . The channel gained rapid acceptance from the Cuban public, often surpassing the audience of flagship national networks like Cubavisión . Initially the signal repeated its content three times a day, but it now broadcasts continuously with a single weekly schedule, repeating content only during the early morning hours .

The channel's programming is divided into several thematic blocks. The morning and afternoon blocks are dedicated to children's and youth programming, which has proven highly popular. A key midday block features a foreign telenovela airing at 3:00 PM, which has historically showcased Argentinian, Colombian, and currently Turkish productions (e.g., "Eternamente"), followed by evening repeat broadcasts at 10:00 PM and an overnight repeat at 5:00 AM . This telenovela slot is particularly popular among a wide demographic. The evening schedule includes numerous series, such as "Friends," "The Big Bang Theory," "The X-Files," and "Grey's Anatomy," and the nighttime block is dedicated to film programming with specialized spaces like "Cinevisión," "D'cine," "Multicine," "Cinema Joven," and "Alto Impacto" .

The channel is available throughout Cuba via digital terrestrial television (TDT) and uses the antennas of local "telecentros" (provincial television stations) during the hours they are not broadcasting their own local programming . The channel broadcasts in standard definition (SDTV) with a 720i picture format .

Multivisión strives to provide a "diverse, cultural, and refreshing" alternative for the Cuban television audience, focusing on quality foreign content that differs from other national signals. The mission of the channel is to educate and entertain the audience by offering access to high-quality international audiovisual production not typically found elsewhere on the Cuban grid .
