Nippon TV, broadcasting in Tokyo under the digital callsign JOAX-DTV, is the flagship of the NNN/NNS network and one of Japan's great commercial broadcasters — on the air since 1953, when it became the country's first commercial television station. From its Shiodome tower it sets the pace of Japanese popular television, with a schedule that moves from morning information to prime-time variety to late-night talk without losing its audience along the way.

The day opens with ZIP!, the morning show that wakes up the nation, and continues with DayDay., the live magazine that carries viewers to noon. The evening belongs to news every., while the weekend's laughter comes from institutions like Shōten, the rakugo comedy showcase that has run for decades, and Sekai no Hatemade Itte Q!, the globe-trotting variety favorite. Friday mornings belong to the little ones: Anpanman has taught Japanese children courage and kindness for a generation.

For viewers in Japan and fans of Japanese television around the world, Nippon TV is the beat of commercial broadcasting.
