BS Nippon TV is the satellite channel of the Nippon network in Japan, operated by BS Nippon Television Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nippon Television Holdings since a share exchange on 10 May 2012. The company was set up on 2 December 1998, regular transmission began at 11:00 on 1 December 2000 with twenty-two slots, and it was the first commercial BS digital station to broadcast around the clock. Headquarters and master control are on the twenty-third floor of the Nippon Television Tower at Higashi-Shimbashi 1-6-1, Minato-ku, Tokyo, after a move from the parent company's Kojimachi annexe on 3 March 2014; president is Yoshiyuki Kasuya and capital stands at four billion yen.
The published figures for the year to March 2026 are revenue of 18.34966 billion yen and operating profit of 2.956623 billion yen. Numbering is equally specific: logical channel block 14x, regular services on BS141 to BS143, a temporary service on BS144 that has never been used, and remote-control key ID 4, which is also the origin of the station's own abbreviation. Capacity rose to 24 slots with full-spec 1920x1080 high definition on 30 January 2006 and fell to 16 slots and 1440x1080 on 29 January 2018.
A 4K service opened on 1 September 2019 and is scheduled to close on 23 January 2027, with content moving to a shared on-demand service from 1 October 2026.
