The channel was launched in December 2006 by the ADN Italia group, which acquired the structures of the pre-existing broadcaster Tele Luna (founded in 1986) and replaced it. The channel is headquartered in Lamezia Terme, Calabria, Italy. Within a few years of its launch, Calabria TV established itself as one of the largest and most followed Calabrian networks. According to Auditel data from September 2014, the channel recorded approximately 48,000 average daily contacts, making it the third most-watched Calabrian broadcaster after Video Calabria and RTC Telecalabria.

On air, Calabria TV's programming consists largely of self-produced shows, along with reruns of fiction series such as Just Cause, The Zack Files, and Snorky.
