BTV World live stream

BTV World online television

BTV World was the international satellite and cable service of the state broadcaster Bangladesh Television, broadcasting in Bengali from the BTV Bhaban at Rampura in Dhaka with a declared area of worldwide coverage. It began operations on 11 April 2004 through a Hong Kong-based satellite on band C, reaching Oceania, Asia and Europe, and it was free to air. The launch had been planned for 25 December 2003 to coincide with the network's thirty-ninth anniversary, but was postponed for technical reasons.

Its schedule was mostly a mirror: the channel simulcast the main BTV Dhaka station for most of the day, and the Dhaka station returned the favour by carrying this feed during the hours when its own terrestrial transmission was off air. From 5 November 2012 that arrangement became systematic. Coverage widened in 2017, when a second satellite of the same operator carried the signal to 49 countries including the whole of Asia, and again in 2018 with the national satellite, in the Middle East and North Africa from 10 April 2020, and on a free-to-air satellite platform of a neighbouring country from 2 September 2019. A conversion into an entertainment channel with a schedule of its own was announced but never carried out.

The channel ceased operations permanently on 31 December 2024 at 19:00 local time and was replaced the same day by the network's news channel; the encyclopedia files it among defunct channels, and the catalog still carries its record with no closing date. No official video archive of its own survives, and it does not appear in the network's streaming portal, which lists four channels.
