Bolivisión LPZ online television
Bolivisión LPZ is the flagship station of the Bolivisión network, a major commercial television channel serving Bolivia. The station is based in La Paz, the country's administrative capital, and broadcasts on VHF channel 5 for analog and digital channel 5.1 for its high-definition signal. As a free-to-air generalist network, its primary language of broadcasting is Spanish. Bolivisión is owned by the international media conglomerate Albavisión, which acquired the network in May 2007 and subsequently moved its flagship operations to La Paz.
The network originally traces its roots in La Paz to "América Televisión," a private channel that first began broadcasting on channel 6 on September 28, 1985. The modern Bolivisión network was officially launched on June 17, 1997, following the dissolution of Telesistema Boliviano. In 1998, entrepreneur Ernesto Asbún moved the channel to La Paz on channel 5 to create a national network. The station is now owned and operated by the licensee Antena Uno S.R.L., which holds the broadcast license for the La Paz signal.
On air, Bolivisión LPZ’s flagship news program is Noticias Bolivisión Al Día, which produces multiple daily editions, including a “Segunda Edición” (Second Edition) and an “Edición Central” (Central Edition), covering local, national, and international events. The channel’s program schedule is heavily centered on a variety of content, including news magazines, political analysis shows, sports coverage, Mexican telenovelas (historically from Televisa), and lifestyle programs.
Notable programs on the channel include Al Día Investiga, an investigative journalism segment; La Cancha de Bolivisión, a sports talk show; El Reto del Sabor, a cooking competition; and Aquí En Vivo, a magazine-style live program. The station also operates a digital newscast on social media at 7:00 PM. Longtime host Walter Emilio Ossio Loayza has been involved with the network's news coverage. Traditionally, weekday programming consisted mostly of telenovelas; however, in late 2024, the network stopped broadcasting Televisa productions, signaling a shift in its content strategy.
Bolivisión LPZ is available throughout the La Paz region via digital terrestrial television (DTT) on channel 5.1 in 1080i high definition. It is also distributed nationally via satellite on the Túpac Katari satellite (TKSat-1) using both SD and HD feeds. Viewers can watch online the live broadcast of Bolivisión LPZ through the network’s official website (redbolivision.tv.bo), which offers a free 24-hour live stream and on-demand access to news segments.
Bolivisión LPZ strives to be a leader in Bolivian commercial television, providing a mix of news, entertainment, and sports that keeps viewers informed and engaged. The mission of the channel is to produce high-quality programming that reflects the reality of the country while also offering international content. Thanks to modern digital platforms and satellite technology, Bolivisión LPZ provides the opportunity to watch online the live broadcast on any device - from smartphones to Smart TVs - ensuring that Bolivian audiences across the country and the global diaspora can access its programming wherever they are.
