Bolivia TV (also known as Canal 7) is a Bolivian free-to-air television channel operating in the public generalist format. The primary language of broadcasting is Spanish. The channel was founded on August 30, 1969, during the government of Luis Adolfo Siles Salinas, continuing a project initiated by his predecessor, René Barrientos Ortuño, who conceived the idea of creating a state television channel . Bolivia TV is owned by the Bolivian government through the Ministry of the Presidency and operated by the Empresa Estatal de Televisión Boliviana (EET) . The channel is headquartered in La Paz, Bolivia, at Avenida Camacho No. 1485, Edificio La Urbana, Piso 6 . The channel is a member of the Red de Medios Estatales del Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia .

On air, Bolivia TV features a mix of news bulletins, educational programs, concerts, documentaries, and cultural content on its main channel (7.1), while its secondary channel (7.2) is focused on sports programming . The flagship news programs cover national and international events, with significant coverage of government activities and official state ceremonies. The channel also broadcasts special cultural events, including the festival "Aquí Canta Bolivia," which promotes emerging national music artists . The channel broadcasts in high definition (1080i HDTV) with downscaling to 16:9 480i for standard definition feeds . Its slogan is "Haciendo Historia" (Making History) or "Nuestra Televisión" (Our Television) .

The channel has a network of regional offices across Bolivia's nine departments, allowing for federal coverage of news and events throughout the country . Bolivia TV is one of the few broadcasters in Bolivia with national coverage, reaching all areas of the country, including remote regions . The channel is available via digital terrestrial television throughout Bolivia, as well as internationally through relay on cable operators worldwide . Viewers can watch online the live broadcast of Bolivia TV through the official website at boliviatv.bo and via the Bolivia Play TV mobile application for Android devices, which offers free streaming of Bolivian television channels .

The channel has faced significant controversy throughout its history. Bolivia TV has been repeatedly accused by opposition politicians and civil society organizations of functioning as a propaganda outlet for the sitting government, allocating more airtime to government officials than to opposition representatives . The channel's management is appointed by the executive branch, and following changes in political leadership, management teams have been replaced, demonstrating government influence over the broadcaster . The channel is funded through a hybrid model that includes commercial advertising and state budget allocations, though the majority of its funding comes from government sources, including state advertising contracts and direct budget transfers . According to financial data, the broadcaster has operated at a loss, requiring significant state budget injections to cover operating costs .

Bolivia TV strives to provide public television service to the Bolivian people, fulfilling its role as the country's state-owned broadcaster. The mission of the channel, as stated by its management and government officials, is to promote unity, diversity, education, and responsible information, while reflecting the plurality of Bolivian society . The channel's official position is that it serves as "semilla de la democracia" (seed of democracy) and "el canal de todos los bolivianos" (the channel of all Bolivians) . Thanks to modern digital platforms and satellite technology, Bolivia TV provides the opportunity to watch online the live broadcast on any device - from smartphones to Smart TVs - ensuring that Bolivian audiences across the country and the global diaspora can access its programming wherever they are.
