TVRI Sumatera Barat (TVRI Padang) is the regional public broadcasting station of TVRI (Televisi Republik Indonesia) serving West Sumatra Province (Provinsi Sumatera Barat) on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. The station was established on April 19, 1997, when it was officially inaugurated by the Minister of Information Harmoko, with its origins tracing back to a Production Keliling (Mobile Production) unit that had been operating since 1982, producing news, entertainment, and tourism packages to be sent to TVRI Central Station in Jakarta for national broadcast. Its headquarters are located at Jalan Padang By Pass KM 16, Koto Panjang, Padang, the provincial capital. As a dedicated source for online television, TVRI Sumatera Barat broadcasts in Indonesian and Minangkabau languages under the local slogans “Punyo Awak Basamo” (Milik Kita Bersama – Our Shared Possession) and “TV Publiknyo Urang Minang” (Public TV of the Minang People). The station is owned by LPP TVRI, the national public broadcaster, and holds a permanent broadcasting license from the Kementerian Komunikasi dan Digital Republik Indonesia. The station relays approximately 92% of TVRI Nasional programming, with the remaining 8% dedicated to local content specific to West Sumatra Province, broadcast from 08:00 to 22:00 WIB.
