TVR (Televisión Regional de Chile) is a Chilean free-to-air television channel operating in the generalist format with a focus on regional content, news, culture, and entertainment. The primary language of broadcasting is Spanish. The channel was first founded on October 9, 1995, as Gran Santiago Televisión, making it the first private UHF television channel in the country. After a series of ownership changes and rebrandings-including Andrés Bello Televisión, Televisión Óptima, +Más Canal 22, and Más Visión-the channel was definitively renamed Televisión Regional de Chile (TVR) on February 1, 2018, as part of its expansion into digital terrestrial broadcasting. The channel is owned by CNC Medios and is headquartered in Santiago, Chile.
On air, TVR describes itself as a channel born to satisfy the need for regional content on nationally-available television, covering news, culture, entertainment, and other topics. Its editorial slogan is "TVR Te Alegra La Vida" (TVR Brightens Your Life), positioning itself as an alternative to mainstream television with a different, bolder editorial line. The channel's social media campaigns use the hashtag #TVRSeAtreve (TVR Dares), emphasizing a willingness to show, say, and ask what other channels do not, with content described as "real" and "without filters."
The channel's programming includes a mix of original productions. One notable program is "Más tóxico que mi ex" (More Toxic Than My Ex), a sentimental advice show hosted by Mariela Sotomayor, described as "the people's tongue." The show, which premiered on October 29, 2025, aims to be the "most real, fun, and unfiltered relationship advice show on TV," featuring real women's stories of heartbreak.
TVR broadcasts on digital terrestrial television on virtual channel 14.1 in Santiago and 14.2 in Antofagasta. The channel is also available on cable and IPTV providers, including VTR (channel 517) and Mundo (channel 42). Viewers can watch online the live broadcast through the official TVR website (tvr.cl) and via the channel's official YouTube page (@canaltvr).
TVR strives to be a national television platform that amplifies regional voices and offers a different editorial perspective, focusing on social journalism and community connection. The mission of the channel is to "connect you with everything," highlighting its commitment to generating local content and serving as a bridge between Chile's diverse regions. Thanks to modern digital platforms, TVR provides the opportunity to watch online the live broadcast on any device - from smartphones to Smart TVs - ensuring that audiences across Chile and the global diaspora can access its programming wherever they are.
