The channel is part of the TV BRICS International Media Network, which was founded in September 2017 and is headquartered in Moscow, Russia . In 2018, the channel granted permission for its 24-hour English and Russian broadcasts to be distributed via a South African satellite service, leading to the creation of the localized TV BRICS Africa Channel . The President of TV BRICS Africa Channel is Ayanda Holo . The channel is available on StarSat (formerly TopTV) and its mobile app, StarTimes ON .



On air, TV BRICS Africa features a mix of news bulletins, talk shows, documentaries, educational programs, travel shows, and cultural content. News and analysis programs include the "BRICS & G20" media project featuring reports and interviews with leading experts; "BRICSreport" with coverage of important events from the scene; and "BRICSterview" featuring interviews with diplomatic and academic figures .
