The channel was launched on August 9, 2010, as a dedicated sports channel under the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), the national public broadcaster of Turkey. Initially, TRT Spor was introduced as a replacement for TRT 3's sports programming. From 2010 to 2011, the channel broadcast using both TRT 3 and TRT Spor logos before establishing its own 24-hour identity. The channel is headquartered in Ankara, Turkey, and broadcasts in 1080i high definition (HD) and 576i standard definition (SD).
