Antiques Roadshow UK online television
Antiques Roadshow UK brings the original BBC appraisal series to viewers, the program that started the worldwide roadshow phenomenon. The format was born in 1977 as a BBC documentary about a London auction house touring the West Country, with a pilot recorded in Hereford and presented by Bruce Parker together with the legendary antiques expert Arthur Negus. The pilot was so successful that a regular series followed in 1979, and the program has been running ever since, reaching its 48th series in 2025. The show tours stately homes, castles, cathedrals and museums across Britain, where local people queue with everything from Georgian silver to Star Wars toys.
Over the decades the rostrum has passed from Arthur Negus to Hugh Scully, then to Michael Aspel, and since 2008 the program has been hosted by Fiona Bruce. Its quiet formula of scholarship and surprise has produced unforgettable moments, from a Fabergé flower valued at a million pounds to a portrait bought for a few hundred that turned out to be a Van Dyck. The series has traveled as far as Canada and Australia, inspired dozens of international versions, and spawned spin-offs like Antiques Roadshow Gems, Priceless Antiques Roadshow and the modern collectibles edition 20th Century Roadshow.
