The channel was founded on January 13, 2020, by the Sistema Maior de Comunicação (SMC), a media group that also operates radio stations Canudos FM 106.7 and Campo Maior AM 840. The channel broadcasts on cable channel 180 via Brisanet HDTV and is also available online. Its slogan is "Feita para você" (Made for you). The channel's director is Sérgio Machado.

On air, SerTão TV features a mix of locally produced entertainment, journalism, documentary, and sports programming. The channel produces more than four hours of live programming daily, from Monday to Friday.
