PBS KET Louisville KY is the public television service for the Louisville metropolitan area, operated by Kentucky Educational Television (KET), a statewide public broadcasting network owned by the Kentucky Authority for Educational Television, an agency of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Louisville is served by two primary stations: WKPC-TV (channel 15) and WKMJ-TV (channel 68). WKPC-TV first signed on the air on September 5, 1958, as WFPK-TV, becoming a member of National Educational Television (NET) before joining PBS upon its launch in 1970. In 1997, WKPC-TV was acquired by KET and became the primary KET station for the Louisville area, replacing WKMJ-TV which had served as KET`s local relay since 1970.
