KOCT Community Channel 18, officially known as KOCT - Oceanside Community Television, is the public access channel for Oceanside, California, United States. The station was founded on October 14, 1981, by Bob Bowditch, who saw a need for city council coverage for residents unable to attend public meetings in person . In 1984, with the support of the City of Oceanside, a separate non-profit corporation was formed to provide Public, Educational, and Government (PEG) access programming to the citizens of Oceanside and North County San Diego . As a dedicated source for online television, KOCT is celebrating over 40 years of community television service and is a non-profit organization partially funded by the City of Oceanside .
