Akaal Channel is a British free-to-air satellite channel devoted to Sikhism and the Sikh community, founded by Amrik Singh Kooner and on air since September 2013. It broadcasts in Punjabi, with programmes also prepared in English for younger viewers, and reaches 44 countries including Europe, having earlier run as Sikh TV. It states plainly that it is independent, owned by no corporation, organisation or politician, and follows the Sikh Maryada and the principles of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib. Its base is Birmingham, with a studio in Southall and bureaux in Delhi, Amritsar and Patiala.

The day opens with the Panj Bania, five morning prayers, then Sukhmani Sahib and the evening Rehras Sahib, with special Divans on Sikh festivals. News is gathered by a team of 30 people in India working around the clock, checked again in Birmingham before transmission; the weekly current affairs hour is Big Question. The community strand is the Akaal Advice Bureau, a live phone-in with specialists in family law and immigration, wills and trusts, and alternative medicine; Akaal Channel Aid handles the humanitarian work. The satellite feed sits on Astra 2G at 11.264 GHz.
