FUEL TV is a Portuguese subscription television channel operating in the action sports and youth lifestyle format. The primary language of broadcasting is English, with local programming in Portuguese for the Portuguese market. The channel was initially launched in the United States in 2003 by FOX. In 2007, the Portuguese company FLUID Youth Culture, S.A. reached an agreement with FOX to represent the channel in Portugal, and it officially launched there in April 2008. Today, the channel is owned by FUEL TV Global, S.A., a Portuguese-owned company based in Alfragide, Lisbon. It is available in over 100 countries across Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa, and Central America, reaching more than 500 million people. The channel's president is Fernando Figueiredo.
On air, FUEL TV is dedicated entirely to action sports and the associated youth culture, including music and art. Its programming covers a wide range of disciplines such as skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, BMX, mountain biking (BTT), motocross, and wakeboarding. The channel produces and curates content that inspires viewers by profiling athletes, exploring destinations, and covering major events like the Summer X Games. Original programs have included Breaking Trail, Action Sports Plus, FirstHand, Built to Shred, The Moto, and Impact Series, a documentary following surfer Miguel Blanco travelling the globe to investigate environmental issues affecting surf zones.
FUEL TV is available in Portugal on all major subscription platforms, including MEO (channels 160 HD and 161), NOS (channels 133 and 144 HD), and Vodafone. The channel broadcasts in 16:9 widescreen format in both standard definition (576i) and high definition (1080i).
