Disney XD East online television
Disney XD East is the Eastern-time feed of the American children's channel Disney XD, owned by The Walt Disney Company via its Disney Kids & Family division and aimed at older children of six to eleven. The channel launched on 13 February 2009 at midnight Eastern Time, replacing the animation network Toon Disney, and the first programme to air was an episode of Phineas and Ferb. The schedule mixes animated and live-action series, shorts and films. Watch Live the eastern feed and keep a steady United States Live Stream of children's television around the clock.
Toon Disney had been on air since 18 April 1998 with the Jetix block from 2004; the letters XD carry no fixed meaning, and XD is also the familiar laughing emoticon. The first original series, Aaron Stone, premiered on launch night and the first original movie, Skyrunners, arrived in November 2009. The Marvel Universe block followed on 1 April 2012 with Ultimate Spider-Man and The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, a Saturday anime block ran from 2017 to 2020 with Pokemon and Beyblade Burst, and the late-night D|XP block brought competitive gaming and the Overwatch League in 2018. Today the catalogue includes DuckTales, Big City Greens, Kiff, Gravity Falls reruns, Broken Karaoke and Chibi Tiny Tales.
Unlike its sister networks, Disney XD runs traditional television commercials alongside programme promotions, and it reached about 44 million pay-television households in late 2023, from a 2013 peak of 82 million. The feed is carried by cable and satellite operators across the country and is also published as an internet stream, so viewers can stream online on a phone, tablet or TV where the operator allows it, while the official DisneyNOW pages publish full episodes, clips and the show guide.
