Disney Channel online television
Disney Channel is the Indian edition of the international children's network of The Walt Disney Company, a pay-television channel launched on 16 December 2004 together with its sister channel Toon Disney and broadcasting in Hindi and English. It is the Indian equivalent of the original American network and is owned by JioStar, the joint venture between Viacom18 and Disney India, reaching viewers through most subscription television operators in the country. By October 2020 it had become the fifth most watched children's channel across all genres in the Indian ratings.
In its first years the schedule was built on imported originals from the American catalogue, series such as Lizzie McGuire, That's So Raven and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, before the channel moved into local production. The first Indian adaptation, Best of Luck Nikki, premiered on 3 April 2011, followed by The Suite Life of Karan and Kabir on 8 April 2012, by the first locally produced original film Luck Luck Ki Baat the same year and by Arjun Prince of Bali, the first home-made animated series, in June 2014. On 17 December 2014 the channel took on the international logo, in purple rather than blue, and built its weekends around family viewing under a slogan that promised Saturday and Sunday for the whole family.
The channel is carried by cable, satellite and internet television operators across India, and its live signal is also published as an internet stream, so viewers can Watch Live from a browser and stream online on a phone, tablet, laptop or smart TV. The local official site and the country's video channel carry clips, trailers and programmes from the same catalogue. Watch TV Online Free previews and clips without a decoder, follow the weekend family block and keep a steady India Live Stream of children's television running through the afternoon: a real TV Online window onto the Indian Disney feed.
