CNBC-e live stream
CNBC-e online television
CNBC-e was a Turkish free-to-air entertainment and business news television channel that was owned by the Demirören Media Group, one of Turkey's largest media conglomerates, with its headquarters located in Istanbul, Turkey. The channel was launched on October 1, 2000, under a licensing agreement with NBCUniversal, which allowed it to use the CNBC brand, and it ceased operations on May 6, 2021, after nearly 21 years of broadcasting. As a dedicated source for online television, CNBC-e broadcast in the Turkish language with a unique dual format: business news and financial programming during the day, followed by American and international drama series and films in prime time and overnight hours.
The programming schedule allowed viewers to watch live channel coverage of financial news from Turkey and global markets during daytime hours, featuring live coverage of the Istanbul Stock Exchange (Borsa Istanbul), market analysis, and interviews with business leaders. The day's flagship business program was Gün Ortası (Midday), hosted by Ece Ömüriş and later by Cem Seymen, which provided in-depth analysis of market movements and corporate news. In the evening, CNBC-e was famous for its prime time lineup of critically acclaimed American drama series, including Lost, Desperate Housewives, House M.D., Heroes, Grey's Anatomy, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, The Big Bang Theory, and Modern Family. The channel's late-night film block, branded as Sinema Gecesi (Cinema Night), featured Hollywood blockbusters and international films. Popular hosts on the channel included Ece Ömüriş for business news, Cem Seymen for economics programs, and Meltem Cumbul who later hosted entertainment segments. The channel's final program was a two-hour retrospective titled Jenerik (Credits), hosted by Ece Ömüriş, which celebrated the channel's legacy and aired on May 6, 2021, at 9:00 PM.
For audiences seeking archival content from this former channel, CNBC-e was widely available during its operational years as a free-to-air service via terrestrial television across Turkey and via satellite on Türksat 3A and 4A at 42.0 degrees East. After its closure on May 6, 2021, the channel was replaced by the entertainment channel TV2, and the CNBC-e brand was discontinued entirely. The channel's business news programming was effectively succeeded by Bloomberg HT, launched in 2010 as a separate 24-hour business channel also owned by Demirören. Following the closure, fans of the channel organized reunion events in Istanbul in 2022 and 2023 to celebrate the memory of CNBC-e. The original CNBC-e live feed is no longer available, but some of its American drama series have continued to air on other Turkish channels including TV2 and other Demirören group channels.
