Canal Institucional is a Colombian free-to-air public television channel operating in the generalist and public service format. The primary language of broadcasting is Spanish. The channel was created by the National Television Commission on September 3, 2003, and officially launched on February 2, 2004, replacing the former Canal A. It is owned by the Government of Colombia and operated by RTVC Sistema de Medios Públicos, the country’s public media system. The channel is headquartered at the Centro Administrativo Nacional (CAN) in Teusaquillo, Bogotá.

On air, Canal Institucional features programming focused on institutional, educational, and civic content designed to connect citizens with the State. Its primary mission is to inform the public about the work of government institutions, report on the development of laws, promote social policies, and disseminate public projects. The channel broadcasts live and delayed transmissions of the Colombian Congress, including sessions of the Senate and the Chamber of Representatives, committee hearings, and plenary debates. In 2020, the channel premiered several international co-productions, including La lista de Erick, where a Latin American journalist explores Russia; Cartas sobre la mesa, a debate program on Latin American current affairs hosted by Luis Castro; and Zoom and RT Reporta, produced by the international network RT, focusing on global news and analysis. The schedule also includes international news segments from Euronews and Russia Today.
