BYUtv is the television network of Brigham Young University, the Provo, Utah university owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Launched on 1 January 2000 as BYU Broadcasting, the network adopted the tagline free TV for families and built a national audience on original series, documentaries and live university events, all free of charge and free of content a family cannot watch together. It reaches viewers on DirecTV channel 374 and Dish Network 9403, on digital subchannels of public stations in many markets, and through its own apps and stream.

The original slate made the network's name: Dwight in Shining Armor, the fantasy comedy about a modern teenager and a medieval princess; Relative Race, the reality competition where contestants meet DNA relatives for the first time; The Fixers, solving problems for people in need; Random Acts, the hidden-camera kindness show; Making Good hosted by violinist Lindsey Stirling; and the improv musical game show Show Offs. The sketch comedy of Studio C, born at BYU, remains a signature. Live coverage carries the university calendar: devotionals, forums and commencement, plus BYU Cougars football, basketball, volleyball and soccer.
