BOKTV is the television arm of Bok Radio, the Afrikaans station that broadcasts from Cape Town on 98.9 FM and on the internet to the Western Cape and to listeners further afield. The radio station was founded in 2009, is owned and run by Wimpie van der Sandt, and sells itself as die beter alternatief, the better alternative, with music taking about 65 percent of the airtime and talk filling the remaining 35 percent through international, local, current affairs, entertainment and community news, plus weather, traffic, sport and humour. BOKTV carries that music led identity onto the screen within the same house.

The station runs seven days a week on a fixed grid: Bok Brefis in the morning with themed days such as Tech Tuesday, Country Thursday and Rock n Roll Friday, Big Nik through late morning, the official Bok Radio Top 30 and Golden Oldies around midday, Die HHH Show after noon, Wiele 2 Wiele, Jaco de Villiers and Huiswaarts in the afternoon, and Bok Sport in the early evening. Bok Radio also stages the Bokkie Toekennings, billed as the biggest Afrikaans music awards event in the Western Cape, and operates the virtual mobile network Boksel. In April 2019 the station withdrew its sponsorship of the Ghoema Music Awards after a dispute that involved another sponsor and the singer Steve Hofmeyr.
