theGrio is an American television network and news brand owned by Allen Media Group and aimed at African American audiences, with its headquarters in Beverly Hills, California. The name comes from griot, the oral historian and storyteller of West Africa. The website behind it began in June 2009 as a division of NBC News and was bought by Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios in June 2016. The broadcast side started life as Light TV, created by Mark Burnett and Roma Downey and launched in January 2016 on Fox Television Stations, was sold to Entertainment Studios in late 2020 and relaunched as TheGrio TV on 15 January 2021, Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The schedule mixes court and justice programming with news, culture and sport. Current strands include America's Court with Judge Ross, Equal Justice with Judge Eboni K. Williams, Masters of the Game and We the People with Judge Lauren Lake, together with HBCU GO coverage of college athletics at historically black colleges and universities, especially football and the marching bands. Earlier news hours carried TheGrio News with Eboni K. Williams and with Marc Lamont Hill.

News and commentary entered the lineup through the merger with Black News Channel, the Tallahassee based channel launched on 10 February 2020 by Bob Brillante and the former congressman J. C. Watts, which filed for bankruptcy in March 2022 and was folded into theGrio on 1 August 2022.
