Alalam News Channel Syria

On quieter weekends, I enjoy catching an old Arabic movie rerun here. It gives the channel a welcome change of pace between the news bulletins.

I found the channel quickly, and the free stream started without a signup. The mobile page is easy to use, although the EPG took a moment to load today.

The political debates are strongest when guests challenge each other instead of repeating prepared lines. Tonight's exchange on the economy was sharp, although the shouting occasionally drowned out the facts.

The morning bulletin gave a useful overview of Syria and the wider region before moving into international headlines. The interviews were brief but added some welcome context.

I leave the channel on quietly while answering emails, since the steady Arabic news updates do not distract me too much. The occasional louder report breaks the rhythm, but overall it makes decent background noise.
