DD National ist der öffentlich-rechtliche Hauptsender Indiens und bietet eine Mischung aus Unterhaltung, Nachrichten und kulturellen Programmen. Zum Sendeplan gehören indische Filme, Serien und Musikshows sowie nationale Nachrichtensendungen und Live-Übertragungen wichtiger Staatszeremonien. Der Kanal zeigt zudem Bildungsinhalte, Dokumentationen und gelegentlich Sportübertragungen. Die Programme sind überwiegend auf Hindi und Englisch und erreichen das Publikum landesweit über terrestrische und Satellitennetze. DD National gewährt Einblicke in Indiens vielfältige Traditionen und aktuelle Ereignisse, wobei in bestimmten Segmenten auf Werbeunterbrechungen verzichtet wird.
