Universal Westerns zeigt klassische und zeitgenössische Filme, die im amerikanischen Grenzland spielen, sowie ausgewählte Fernsehserien dieses Genres. Das Programm schöpft aus der umfangreichen Bibliothek des in den USA produzierten Westernkinos, darunter Stummfilm-Western, Singende-Cowboy-Matineen und revisionistische Dramen aus späteren Jahrzehnten. Dokumentationen über historische Persönlichkeiten, Viehtriebe und Grenzsiedlungen erscheinen gelegentlich zwischen den Spielfilmbeiträgen. Der Sender überträgt keine Nachrichten, Sport- oder Religionsprogramme, sondern konzentriert sich auf erzählerisch geprägte Unterhaltung, die in der Mythologie und Geschichte des amerikanischen Westens verwurzelt ist.

Zuschauer können den Sender über Kabel- und Satellitenanbieter im ganzen Land empfangen. Ein Live-Stream des aktuellen Programms ist auf der Website des Senders verfügbar, ein Abruf einzelner Filme wird jedoch nicht angeboten.
