Investigation Discovery HD vysílá nehrané pořady zaměřené na kriminální vyšetřování, forenzní vědu a skutečné soudní případy. Obsah kanálu čerpá především z dokumentů o skutečných zločinech, analýz soudních procesů a rozhovorů s pracovníky orgánů činných v trestním řízení. Ve Spojených státech se jeho program silně opírá o rekonstrukce a archivní záběry, které přibližují nevyřešené vraždy, případy pohřešovaných osob a historické kriminální události. Některé pořady zkoumají psychologické profily pachatelů, jiné sledují postupy detektivů a žalobců. Stanice nevysílá filmy, hudbu, sport ani náboženské pořady; její zaměření zůstává na faktickém vyprávění o zločinu a spravedlnosti.

Diváci mohou Investigation Discovery HD sledovat prostřednictvím standardních kabelových a satelitních televizních balíčků po celé zemi. Kan
