RTS 1 is the main national public television channel of Senegal, owned and operated by Radiodiffusion Télévision Sénégalaise (RTS), the country's state broadcaster . The channel was launched on August 26, 1972, and initially broadcast as ORTS, later known as RTS, before adopting its current name in 2001 . Its headquarters are located in Dakar, Senegal, and the channel was the only television broadcaster in the country until 1991, remaining the sole truly Senegalese TV station until 2003 . As a dedicated source for online television, RTS 1 broadcasts a general format in French and Wolof, with additional news services in six regional languages: Pulaar, Serer, Soninke, Dyula, and Maninka .

The highly acclaimed morning show Kinkelibaa airs Monday to Friday at 6:30 AM and has been awarded best morning show in Senegal multiple times . Samedi Soir is hosted by Momo Wade, son of musician Dj Prince, who transformed the program into an innovative talk show featuring Senegalese celebrities from show business and politics in a warm, conversational setting . Other regular programs include Point de vue, an interview program presented by Oumar Gningue featuring political and civil society figures; Renni kom kom, an agricultural magazine presented by Abdel Kader Diokhane; Xaima Xam Xam, a quiz program on Quran and hadith knowledge presented by Oustaz Sylla; and Tontou Bataaxal, a religious magazine presented by El Hadji Ousmane Gueye where guests respond to viewer letters . Notable new programs include Focus Show, co-produced by RTS 1, dedicated to entrepreneurs and youth, discussing food sovereignty, education, health, and youth empowerment .



For audiences seeking a reliable live stream, RTS 1 is widely available as a free-to-air service via satellite across Africa and Europe. The channel broadcasts on multiple satellite positions, including Eutelsat 7B at 7 degrees East on frequency 12603 MHz with horizontal polarization, a symbol rate of 30000, and FEC of 2/3, using DVB-S2 8PSK transmission and MPEG-4 SD video . Additional frequencies include Eutelsat 9B at 9 degrees East on 11880 MHz vertical polarization, and Galaxy 19 at 97 degrees West for North American coverage .
