América TeVé online television

América TeVé is the Spanish-language independent television station of San Juan, Puerto Rico, on the air under the call sign WJPX on channel 24 and branded as América TeVé Puerto Rico. The licence is held by America CV Stations Group, born of the joint venture between Sherjan Broadcasting, the owner of América TeVé, and Caribevision Holdings; the same group runs WJAN-CD on channel 41 in Miami, with studios in Hialeah Gardens, Florida. The channel presents itself as the only independent Spanish-language station that transmits for South Florida and Puerto Rico through its antennas, cable and satellite services and digital platforms.

The station went on the air in 1987 as a round-the-clock news channel called WSJN 24 Horas, El Canal de Noticias, and journalists such as María Celeste Arrarás, Ada Torres Toro and Lyanne Meléndez began their careers there. The call sign became WJPX in January 1998, the channel later carried Pax TV, an MTV affiliation and MundoFox, and since 1 August 2016 it broadcasts América TeVé on virtual channel 24.1 with a digital signal on UHF 21. The studios are in the Amelia Industrial Park in Guaynabo, shared with WIRS of Yauco, the transmitter at Barrio Cubuy in Canóvanas is shared with WTCV, and WKPV in Ponce and WJWN-TV in San Sebastián carry the signal around the island.

The programming mixes news with entertainment, analysis and opinion, series and novelas, and the Puerto Rico portal publishes the news of the day about elections and emergencies, pensions, health and municipal affairs.
