Altyn Asyr, Turkmen for Golden Age, is the main national television channel of Turkmenistan, operated by the State Committee of Turkmenistan on Television, Radio and Film, with its origins dated to 7 November 1959, when television broadcasting began in the country. It broadcasts in Turkmen from Ashgabat and carries the general schedule of a national station: news bulletins on the country and the world, cultural and educational programs, music, sport, drama and film, and coverage of official state ceremonies and public holidays.

The channel is one of a family of state broadcasters, alongside Yaslyk for younger viewers, Miras on culture and heritage, Turkmen Sport, the music channel Turkmen Owazy, the city channel Ashgabat, the Turkmenistan channel and Arkadag TV, and Altyn Asyr is the general first channel among them, the one that carries the main news of the day and the largest evening audience. Programming is built around Turkmen traditions, history and the arts, with concerts, documentaries, discussions of social topics, film screenings and reports from the regions of the country, from the capital to the provinces of Ahal, Balkan, Dashoguz, Lebap and Mary.
