The channel began broadcasting on November 17, 1974, from the city of Muscat, using the Intelsat satellite system, and expanded to Salalah on November 25, 1975. The channel is owned and operated by the Public Authority for Radio and TV of Oman, and its official website is part.gov.om. This service is offered as an online television platform, allowing viewers to access its programming through satellite reception and the official “Ayn” digital platform.



On air, Oman TV features a mix of news bulletins, government announcements, children’s shows, nature programs, cultural segments, and entertainment content. The flagship news broadcasts cover national and international events, with a particular focus on the activities of the Sultan of Oman, government policies, and economic developments. The channel produces religious and cultural programs, including Matoun, Dhifaf, Al Fahras, and talk shows such as Al-Bayt (The House) and Kunna Huna (We Were Here). During the holy month of Ramadan, the channel broadcasts special drama series such as Al Waqeed and Al-Madyoonir. Satisfaction with TV content covering national occasions, religious events, and weather conditions reached approximately 88 percent. The total cumulative transmission hours for the general channel, Oman Live, the Sports Channel, and the Cultural Channel reached 8,784 hours, with programming spanning news, developmental content, cultural and children’s segments, features dedicated to women, youth, and sports, alongside entertainment and artistic programs. The volume of total content views on the “Ayn” platform ascended to 14,161,123 by the end of 2024.



Oman TV actively covers major national events and seasonal programming. During the Khareef Dhofar (monsoon) season, the channel broadcasts special programs, including People and Khareef, a daily show airing from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM that showcases Dhofar’s landscapes and tourism activities, and Khareef Nights, a live evening program on Oman General and Oman Cultural channels covering heritage, cultural, and artistic activities.
