MTA1 World online television
MTA1 World is a British free-to-air television channel operating in the Islamic religious and educational format. The primary languages of broadcasting are English, Urdu, and Arabic, with programming also available in Bengali, French, Swahili, Hausa, German, Indonesian, Russian, and Spanish. The channel is the flagship service of the MTA International satellite network and is owned and operated by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. MTA1 World was launched on 1 January 1994 as a continuation of AMP (Ahmadiyya Muslim Presentation), becoming the first international Muslim television channel to broadcast a variety of Islamic programming. The channel was established by Mirza Tahir Ahmad, the fourth Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, and is headquartered in the United Kingdom. The channel is run by volunteers and funded entirely through donations from community members, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week without commercial advertising.
On air, MTA1 World features a wide range of religious, educational, and informational programming. The flagship program is the Friday Sermon, which was the first program aired on MTA in 1992 and remains the channel's longest-running show. The current Caliph, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, delivers the Friday Sermon from the Mubarak Mosque in Tilford, Surrey, addressing not only the local congregation but the entire world. The sermon is translated live simultaneously into at least eight languages including Arabic, Swahili, Indonesian, Bengali, French, and German, with additional translations into Russian and Spanish made available later. Another key program is the Question and Answer Session, where the late Caliph Mirza Tahir Ahmad answered questions from guests around the world on topics ranging from Islamic theology to the future of Western society. Rah-e-Huda is an interactive Urdu-language talk show where viewers can ask questions specifically about Ahmadiyya beliefs, while Faith Matters is the English-language interactive equivalent addressing general questions about faith. Intekhab-e-Sukhan is a popular Urdu poetry program hosted by Mubarak Suiddique, featuring classical and contemporary poetry, including couplets composed by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the founder of the Ahmadiyya Community.
Beyond religious content, the channel produces educational and children's programming. Bustan-e-Waqfe Nau and Gulshan-e-Waqfe Nau feature the current Caliph teaching children in a classroom setting, with separate classes for boys and girls of different age groups. Bachon Ki Duniya is an educational program for young children covering various topics, and Friday Sermon 4 Kids presents a summarized version of the weekly sermon tailored for younger viewers. The channel also airs Arabic language learning programs for children, documentaries about faith and history including the Villages Of Africa series and Mountains, and programs on science and technology such as Insight. World News broadcasts daily international news updates, and Islamic Jurisprudence features English-language discussions on Islamic legal concepts hosted by Mansoor Clark. The channel also covers major community events, including addresses from the annual Jalsa Salana (Annual Convention) and Ijtema (gatherings of the community's youth organization).
