Al-Souriya TV online television
Al-Souriya TV is the free-to-air public channel of Syria, owned by the Syrian General Authority for Radio and Television and based in Damascus. It has carried four successive names on its journey - Syrian Satellite Channel, then Syrian TV, then Syria TV, and now Al-Souriya TV - and its current slogan says that Al-Souriya embraces everyone. The channel reaches Syria on digital terrestrial television and the rest of the world on satellite.
The channel's history mirrors the country's. During the civil war it served the Assad government as a propaganda instrument, and its crews paid for that role: on one assignment near al-Daba'a, in the al-Qusayr countryside of Homs, the team came under attack and cameraman Asem al-Shaar was wounded. When Damascus fell, opposing forces seized the channel and announced the end of that government live on its own air. Broadcasting was then suspended on terrestrial and satellite alike, the website went into redesign, and when transmission resumed it was with only a static image of the logo - a placeholder ahead of a full relaunch timed for Ramadan.
For viewers, Al-Souriya is the public face of Syrian television, rebuilding itself after the upheaval. Watching needs no subscription and no account, so anyone can watch live at any hour, and this TV Online page carries the same signal. If you want to Watch TV Online Free with the Syrian public channel, or stream online as the service takes shape again, the Syria Live Stream keeps Al-Souriya TV on screen.
