Al Riyadh Radio online television

Al Riyadh Radio, in Arabic Idhaat al-Riyadh, is a Saudi radio station broadcasting from Riyadh under the country's ministry of information. In the broadcaster's own list of radio services it appears as the Saudi General Program, the first entry in the list; the others include the second programme, the international programmes, the Holy Quran service and a station called the Call of Islam. It is one of the oldest radio services in the country: before it opened, radio broadcasting there was limited to the western city.

Two structural facts about the service are documented, and both matter. The first is a merger: the general programme output of the two stations was unified, after which the general programme ran from the capital and the second programme ran from the western city. That arrangement is why the station still appears in official lists under a programme name rather than a city name. The second is reach: the station broadcasts round the clock, its output is described as reaching every part of the world, and its programming is divided between news, culture and entertainment - which is what places it in the general category rather than in any specialist one.

For listeners, the name to remember is the programme rather than the city: the general service from the capital, on air day and night. Watching needs no subscription, so anyone can watch live at any hour, and this TV Online page carries the same signal.
