La 2 Canarias live stream
La 2 Canarias online television
La 2 Canarias is the regional version of the national “La 2“ channel from Televisión Española (TVE), specifically produced for broadcasting in the Canary Islands . The primary language of broadcasting is Spanish. This regional service is operated by the TVE Canarias production center, which has facilities in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, along with local newsrooms and collaborators on the other five islands .
On air, La 2 Canarias offers the national cultural and documentary programming of the main La 2 channel but enriches it with specific content for the archipelago . This local programming is produced under the regional brand “Telecanarias“ . The flagship local news program is +Canarias, an informative show that broadcasts on La 2 for 30 minutes on weekday evenings . This program analyzes the day's current events, offering a detailed review of the main topics, and includes interviews conducted in the studio as well as live reports from all seven islands .
Beyond news, La 2 Canarias has a rich history of broadcasting folkloric and cultural programs, with one of the most famous being Tenderete, a long-running space dedicated to Canarian traditions and music . The channel also collaborates in special events, such as the retransmission of the WOMAD festival in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria . Historically, La 2 Canarias developed a distinct identity. Due to technical difficulties in transmitting the signal from mainland Spain in the 1960s and 1970s, TVE Canarias initially functioned autonomously, creating much of its own content for both La 1 and La 2. It was not until 1982 that the La 2 signal was regularly available across all the islands .
La 2 Canarias is available throughout the Canary Islands via Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) and can also be watched online through the RTVE Play platform . The channel strives to connect the national broadcaster with the local realities of the Canary Islands, offering coverage of regional news, cultural events, and traditions. The mission of the channel is to serve the public with high-quality, informative, and cultural programming while reflecting the unique identity and concerns of the Canarian population.
