Afro Magic Channel online television
Afro Magic Channel is a culture television channel from Côte d'Ivoire broadcasting in French, run by the Ivorian media group Red Media. Its whole remit is art and culture, Ivorian first and African beyond that: the place on the dial where music, dance, craft, ceremony and heritage get the airtime that general channels hand to news and sport. The country is one of West Africa's cultural engines. Abidjan, its economic capital, gave birth to zouglou, the student music that grew into a national sound, and to coupé-décalé, the club style that swept African dance floors, while the regions keep their own mask traditions, drumming schools and ceremonies.
The channel reaches viewers over the internet rather than through a terrestrial transmitter, and the feed is continuous: there is no published programme guide, so what is running now is what you watch. The material comes out of the cultural life of the country, from traditional drumming and dance troupes to the urban popular music that grew up in Abidjan, with portraits of artists and artisans and reports on customs still practised far from the big cities. Because the remit is culture and nothing else, a rehearsal, a carver's workshop or a village ceremony can hold the screen for as long as it deserves.
Watching costs nothing and needs no subscription, so anyone can watch live at any hour. Viewers who grew up on these rhythms and viewers discovering them for the first time share the same TV Online page: some come for a drum performance, others stay for a portrait of a mask carver. If you want to Watch TV Online Free with Ivorian culture around the clock, or stream online while the sounds of Abidjan play in the background, the Ivory Coast Live Stream keeps the country's heritage on screen day and night.
