ACTV online television
ACTV is the government access television channel of the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government in Georgia, United States, operated by the county Public Information Office. It first went to air on 27 October 2000 over Charter Cable and University Cablevision, began carrying Mayor and Commission meetings live in March 2002, and was moved to Channel 180 on 10 June 2014, where it still sits on the Spectrum line-up. The channel runs information around the clock, and the same feed is streamed online for residents without cable.
Programming is an hourly wheel of civic strands. Mayor and Commission Information gives biographies and contacts for the mayor and the ten commissioners; Government Services Updates covers road works, water restrictions, leaf and limb collection and departmental bulletins; What's Happening in Athens? carries Leisure Services programmes, public meetings and forums; Public Safety Updates brings fire and crime prevention advice and recognition of police, fire and sheriff personnel; All About Athens closes the hour with ordinances, opening hours and the Shelter Pals dog listings. The televised Mayor and Commission meeting runs live on the first and third Tuesdays at six in the evening, rebroadcast on the second, fourth and fifth Tuesdays, every Thursday evening and Sunday afternoons.
Because the output is produced by the county rather than a commercial broadcaster, there are no advertising breaks and the agenda is public business. Residents can Watch Live whenever a meeting is in session, or stream online from a browser, a phone or a television at any other hour. Follow the United States live stream of municipal government out of Athens, keep the channel as TV online during council week, and Watch TV Online Free with no subscription beyond the cable carriage on channel one eight zero.
