Access Media Productions Peninsula Channel online television
Access Media Productions Peninsula Channel is a United States municipal television channel on the Monterey Peninsula in California, carrying content and city government meetings for the cities of Seaside and Pacific Grove. It is one of five channels operated by Access Media Productions, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit community media station at 465 Tyler Street in Monterey, and reaches cable households on Comcast channel 25. Between meetings the channel runs city-produced features, public safety information and local event coverage from both towns.
The Seaside City Council anchors the schedule. The council has five nonpartisan members; regular meetings are held the first and third Thursday of each month at 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, with special meetings called as needed. Seaside counts 32,366 residents, was founded in 1888 as East Monterey and incorporated on October 13, 1954, and today hosts California State University, Monterey Bay and the city-owned Bayonet and Black Horse golf courses on the former Fort Ord.
Pacific Grove supplies the other half of the lineup. The town of 15,090 residents began in 1875 as a Methodist seaside retreat and incorporated on July 5, 1889; it is governed by a mayor and six councilmembers elected at large, and its civic year includes the Butterfly Parade in early October, the Good Old Days festival in mid-April. More than 1,300 structures sit on its historic register, and Point Pinos Lighthouse, lit in 1855, is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the United States West Coast.
