Access Media Productions Monterey Channel online television
Access Media Productions Monterey Channel is the United States municipal television channel of Monterey, California, a historic harbor city of about 30,000 residents on Monterey Bay. It broadcasts on cable channel 25 as the official outlet for city government, with programs produced by the City's Communications and Outreach Office from City Hall at 580 Pacific Street. Technical services come under contract from MCAET, the county office of education's media center for arts, education and technology. The schedule is built around public business, and daily rebroadcasts fill the hours between meetings.
Regular City Council sessions anchor the lineup, held the first and third Tuesday of each month at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber, with study sessions on the fourth Wednesday and special meetings called as needed. Under The Brown Act each sitting is an open public forum, so the channel carries the whole evening: staff reports, public comment and the votes of Mayor Tyller Williamson and the four councilmembers. Around the council sit the city boards, among them the Planning Commission, the Parks and Recreation Commission, the Library Board and the Historic Preservation committee.
Beyond civic business the channel portrays a town called California's "First" City, capital of Alta California from 1777 to 1849 and site of the 1849 Constitutional Convention in Colton Hall. Cannery Row, the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Monterey Jazz Festival, staged since 1958, all sit within the city limits. Watch Live when the council convenes, catch the daily rebroadcasts, or stream online in HD on any screen; the United States live stream of Monterey civic life runs around the clock.
