FC Public Media online television

FC Public Media, formerly known as the Fort Collins Public Access Network (FCPAN), is a non-profit community media center and public access television station serving Fort Collins and Larimer County, Colorado, in the United States. The organization was founded in 2004 by a group of citizens concerned with upholding freedom of speech and encouraging local artists and local creators, and it is headquartered at the Center for Creativity within the historic Carnegie Library building in Fort Collins, Colorado. As a dedicated source for online television, FC Public Media operates as a commercial-free, independent, volunteer-run station that broadcasts on Comcast Channel 97 and Connexion Channel 22, fulfilling the public access requirements of the Federal Communications Commission’s Communications Act of 1934.

The programming schedule allows viewers to watch live channel coverage of 24 hours a day, 7 days a week of original locally produced content featuring diverse voices, cultures, and histories of Northern Colorado. The station’s flagship long-running program is Beware Theater, hosted by volunteer producer Alexis Hmielak, which has run for over a decade celebrating horror movies from the golden age of black and white cinema. Other original programming includes FoCo Local, which builds bridges in the community by featuring faces, voices, stories, and histories not often seen on mainstream media, as well as social activism projects, documentaries exploring the Hispanic community’s history in Northern Colorado produced by volunteer filmmaker Betty Aragon-Mitotes, and a variety of other talk shows, cultural events, music festivals, and community celebrations. The organization enables local creators of all skill levels to produce their own shows by providing access to a professional studio equipped with green screens, lighting equipment, a soundproof podcasting studio, industry-standard cameras, and editing computers, along with training classes in camera operation, editing, audio, and lighting.

For audiences seeking a reliable live stream of Fort Collins community content, FC Public Media is widely available as a free-to-air service via cable television across the city on Comcast Channel 97 and Connexion Channel 22. The channel is accessible as tv online via its official website at fcpublicmedia.org, which provides live streaming and video-on-demand archives of its locally produced programming. The organization is entirely volunteer-run with no paid staff, led by President of the Board of Directors Jorie Kramer, ensuring that its independent, community-focused, and non-corporate programming reaches residents of Fort Collins, Colorado State University students, and interested viewers worldwide.
