The network was founded on March 1, 1967, by the late Antonio Granda Centeno, and its first transmission in Guayaquil (which began in 1974) was directed by Carlos Macías. The network is currently owned by the Mateschitz family, co-owners of Red Bull, who acquired the channel in April 2023.

On air, the Guayaquil studio produces local segments of the network’s national programming, including the highly popular daily variety show **En Contacto** and local news segments for the coastal region. The flagship news program is **Televistazo**, which, from its Guayaquil base, covers events and issues relevant to Guayas and the coast, including news from the city of Guayaquil.
