Duronto TV online television

Duronto TV is the first Bengali-language children's television channel of Bangladesh, carried nationwide on satellite and cable, and its name means "restless". Licensed under a different working title and renamed before launch, it is owned by Barind Media Limited, a subsidiary of the Renaissance Group, and it works from Banani, Dhaka; its logo pairs the Bengali lettering with a computer-animated tiger unveiled at a Dhaka hotel.

The schedule is built in numbered seasons, more than thirty so far, each opening with new local productions and freshly licensed animation. Landmarks along the way include Sisimpur, the beloved puppet co-production; Mastermind Family Bangladesh, the localised family quiz licensed from the BBC; a cooking show for young chefs developed with the health ministry and a United Nations children's agency; and Kutu Bhutu, the channel's first original animated series, built around the comic fights of a dog and a squirrel. The channel has taken a national award for the best children's programme.

A fire at the Banani tower where the channel was based once took it off the air together with a neighbouring radio station, but transmissions resumed and the restless tiger runs on; every morning the schedule opens with the national anthem.
