Disney Channel Japan online television
Disney Channel Japan is the Japanese edition of the international children's network of The Walt Disney Company, a pay-television channel owned and operated by The Walt Disney Company Japan and part of the Disney Kids & Family division of Disney International Operations. The launch was announced on 24 April 2003, shortly after the twentieth anniversary of Tokyo Disneyland, and the channel went on air on 18 November 2003, a date chosen to coincide with the seventy-fifth anniversary of Mickey Mouse.
Programming spans animation, films and drama series for an audience that runs from children to adults, and the official Japanese site also publishes special footage from the latest films and news of the Disney parks around the world. The daytime grid is aimed at younger viewers, with the afternoon and the early evening given to live-action comedies and serials for school-age children and teenagers and the evening to films. A video-on-demand service was added on 8 July 2004, and the channel has since been carried by satellite, cable and the television services of the country's main operators, with a second feed added in December 2005 and a sister preschool channel, Disney Junior, launched in Japan in October 2012. Everything is dubbed or produced in Japanese.
The signal reaches subscribers across Japan, and clips and videos from the channel are published online, so viewers can Watch Live from a browser and stream online on a phone, tablet, laptop or smart TV where their provider allows it. Watch TV Online Free clips and trailers from the Japanese library, follow the daily grid on the official site and keep a steady Japan Live Stream of family television running through the afternoon: a real TV Online window onto the Japanese Disney feed.
