Disney Channel online television
Disney Channel is the Portuguese edition of the international children's network of The Walt Disney Company, a pay-television channel operated by The Walt Disney Company Portugal as part of the company's Iberian division and managed from Spain. It launched on 28 November 2001 as a premium channel, exclusive at first to a single Portuguese cable operator, and it was the sixth European version of the network before moving into the basic packages of the country's platforms. Its localised website appeared in August 2003, and by then the channel counted some 230,000 subscribers.
The schedule mixes animated series, live-action comedies and films for children and families, dubbed into European Portuguese, with the daytime grid aimed at younger viewers and the evening hours at the whole household. Long-running favourites of the Portuguese feed include Miraculous, the adventures of Ladybug, Phineas e Ferb and Os Green na Cidade Grande, and the channel has a history of localising formats rather than simply importing them: the Portuguese version of Art Attack began in the autumn of 2002, and a localised preschool strand followed on 15 September 2003, which later became the sister channel Disney Junior, on air in Portugal since November 2012. The official site publishes the daily and weekly grid, the series pages and video clips from the same catalogue.
The channel is carried by cable, satellite and internet television operators across Portugal, and its live signal is also published as an internet stream in high definition, so viewers can Watch Live from a browser and stream online on a phone, tablet, laptop or smart TV. Watch TV Online Free clips, trailers and episodes from the local video library, follow the afternoon animation block and keep a steady Portugal Live Stream of children's television running through the day: a real TV Online window onto the Portuguese Disney feed.
